Hey guys,
Im pretty new to Maya, just installed it a few weeks ago.
Right now, Im trying to animate the great dane dog walking.
Im not sure how to texture him with the actual texture he is supposed to have on him.
Can anyone tell me how to do this exactly?
J
Hi Jide,
Do you already have a texture? If so, just open up Maya. Then along the top open the Windows-->Rendering Editors--> Hypershade. You should see a list of what are called shaders on the left of the hypershade. Choose the Blinn. Then middle-mouse button click and drag (MMB from now on) the blinn on to the dog. He should turn a metallic shade of gray. Then go back to your hypershade and hit ctrl-a. This will open the attribute editor for the blinn. Click on the checkerboard box next to "Color". Depending on what type of file the texture is, you'll choose "File" or "PSD" from the window that pops up. Then under File attributes, go to image name, and navigate to your texture file. If you dont see anything happen at first, hit the "6" key.
If you dont have a texture, follow all the above steps. But when you get to the "Color", click on the gray box immediately to the right. Choose a color, and any object with that blinn will be that color> Viola!
