    Hi all:

    I am animating w/a rig that uses the hair system to add secondary motion to a mesh (a flour sack from H3D/CreativeCrash).

    It works nicely, however, while animating I'd like to turn off the hair system as it is not very timeline friendly.

    I've selected the hair system nodes/deleted the cache, and also turned off the evaluation of all nodes except IK Solvers and constraints, but the hair continues to deform the mesh while animating (and of course it doesn't work when scrolling backward). Can I turn the hair system off?
    Also, after deleting the hair cache in the menu, the cache file is not deleted from the data directory - is that a bug?

    Thanks.

    hi ,

    you can simply turn "off" the "simulation method" in your hairSystem_nodes

    $hairNodes = #ls -type "hairSystem"#;

    for ($i=0;$i<#size $hairNodes#;$i++)
    {
    setAttr ($hairNodes[$i] + ".simulationMethod") 0;
    }

    (replace # with the little upslash ... it cant be displayed properly in this forum)

    when you want to tweak the hairNodes following attributes are most interesting

    iterations
    stiffness
    stiffnessScale ( for e.g. fallof of the stiffness along a curve )
    damp
    drap
    curveAttract
