    I can see potential problems with this as the rotation is driven by a direct connection. What I mean is that if the rotations on the object driving the twist go into gimble lock its gonna go funky But other than that its a quick solution.

    Yes of course, the Gimbal is always a problem for such a solutions. But as I said it's a really simple method... How you want to feed those rotation is up to you - you can even use some aim constrained solutions - or even better -some quaternion solution driving it.... there are a lot of possibilities, the node just combines some math nodes that you need to hook anyway, nothing more.
