This is probably going to sound super stupid, but here goes. I want to invert my symmetrical controls (say corners of my mouth) so that when I select both, and translate in X, instead of them both going the same way, they will both go towards or away from center.

    how do i accomplish this?

    thanks

nm. figured it out. told ya it was stupid.
I'll put my workflow up though, and see if someone else has a better idea.

i had 3 joints. one in the middle, and one on each side of the middle joint, say 5 units. both side joints were a child of middle. I made 2 nurbs circles, and got their orientations working in object move mode so it was what i wanted. one of the controls was left alone, the other I put -90 on rotX and 180 on rotY (so X moved them towards each other and Z(z-up world) moved them together also. only trans Y was inverse)).

Then I created 2 empty groups, point and orient constrained each one to a nurbs curve. parent a nurbs curve under each group, froze xforms on the nurbs curves, switched move to local, and now it does what I want.

must be an easier way though.

    thanks again

Can you not group the control you want to mirror. Move the pivot to the center of the control. Invert the scale ( -1 ) on the new group. That way the translate value should still be a postive value (which is what you want).

    Not tested. Just an idea.
